Learning the Piano with Annie Locke
IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE, I AM NOT TAKING ON ANY NEW STUDENTS FOR THE REMAINDER OF 2023. MY APOLOGIES FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE THIS MAY CAUSE.
Whether you're a complete beginner, taking the
piano up again after a break, or simply needing to
find a new teacher, I will be able to help. Own PaceI
can take you at your own pace through the grade
exams - to advanced level if you wish. Or, if
you prefer to learn without doing exams, that's
fine too. Either way you will find that I am
always sympathetic, enthusiastic and, with over
twenty years of teaching piano, an experienced
guide.
Learn your own style
I teach classical piano, as well as a variety of
popular styles, and can suggest material and books
as we go, always placing an emphasis on finding
music that will suit you and that you will really
enjoy playing.
Many of us lead busy lives and, as part of the
lessons, I will help you to use whatever time you
have available to practice wisely so that you gain
maximum benefit from it.
Never too old...
And it really is true that you're never too old
to learn the piano. My oldest beginner was in
his eighties and I frequently teach beginners in
their forties and fifties.
Music Theory
I try to include as much music theory as time
allows in the piano lessons. However, I also
offer music theory lessons separately, if you
prefer, and can help with this component for the
GCSE and A level exams as well as the Associated
Board of Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) graded
theory exams.
